Great air show snaps. Have been buying a few b&w rppc examples of vintage bi-planes, coincidentally. They look a lot more impressive in colour.
It was a nice little gathering to celebrate the decimation of Napier in the quake of 31, they do it every year. The last time I went the DC3 Dakota was there, if it had been there this time, I might have gone for a ride 🙂
Was that when all the terraces in Rotorua were swallowed up? I guess Napier isn’t close to Rotorua. What a cool way to commemorate a disaster!
No, that was earlier I think, late 1800’s?
Yes, you are quite right!
Iwent there and looked at the photos, it was stunning before it got broken..
On reflection I think that quake was in the 1800s. The North Island seems less affected by quakes these days. Poor Christchurch is getting a battering on a regular basis and I suppose that extends into a lot of other South Island regions.
Ha, true 😀
He he. I’ve confused myself now!
Welcome to my world 😀
That’s a very ‘yellow’ plane! 🙂 I’m trying to imagine what that would look like in the sky. Yellow submarine comes to mind! 😀
Why not, the Beatles had some interesting ideas 🙂
